Yoga remains a difficult issue to discuss in this century. It is a pity that modern day globalization has caused this amazing ancient art to be viewed as a distant and mysterious concept. It is amazing to see the whole philosophy fuelling yoga's methodology being reduced to a simple concept, justified by the need to make it easy for the layperson to understand.

To be on the safe side, it is good to gain a thorough understanding of a particular subject before you begin to speak of it from an expert's viewpoint. It becomes a distorted view when westerners perceive yoga as a physical activity. The need for simplification has diminished the wisdom of true yoga into a superficial speech that fails to recognize the real purpose and meaning of this wonderful philosophy.

In reality, yoga practice is a very sacred journey that has roots buried deep within the scriptures of an ancient Holy book. In India, yoga is considered a very spiritual experience that has a physical aspect to it. Most westerners would describe yoga as a physical practice. Most westerners are aware of the strange symbols associated with yoga practice, but often they are misunderstood. It became a popular sport in the west. It also does a good job attracting those who wish to obtain inner peace and balance in the midst of the hectic modern lifestyle.

Disciples of yoga are often fascinated by the claims made by their yoga instructors. The numerous amount of fatal errors found in the practice of yoga outside of India shows that this art has been widely misunderstood at large.

In order to truly understand this concept moments of quiet, peaceful times are necessary to contemplate on this philosophy. Meditation is an integral part of the practice, the westerners with their ever busy lifestyles certainly do not posses time for such luxuries.

Sometimes, the most important part of this practice is neglected, for instance the essential meditation.
