The majority of people around the world suffer from some type of back pain. This back pain can be associated with poor posture. Even if you sit up straight when you are at your desk working or when you are driving you can still have back pain due to slouching from time to time or even straining your back muscles.

Many people, who suffer from back pain, even if it is acute back pain, will tell you that it is difficult to carry on with their everyday activities. You can purchase pain reliever at your local pharmacy, although it will be a mild pain reliever it will still help to relieve the discomfort.

Back pain can also be caused by the way you sleep. If you would rather sleep on your stomach and not your back or side you should try putting your pillow under your stomach instead of under your head. This allows your spinal cord to stay curved and not straighten out and cause discomfort in the lower back and neck. You may also want to try putting a pillow between your knees when you sleep on your side. This will allow you back to stay aligned and will help get rid of pesky lower back pain.

To correct you poor posture you can contact a chiropractor or a physician. Yet you can take care of it in the comfort of your own home. All you need to do is follow these simple tips and you will be on your way to back pain free lifestyle. Although you may still have the occasional muscle spasm, your back will feel much better that it did before.

Tip number one, when standing or sitting be sure that your ear and your ankle are in a straight line with your hip.

Do not drop your head forward, keep your head and neck straight at all times, this will cut back on the neck and upper back pain.

Use your armrests on your chair. When you use armrests you take off up to 25% of pressure on your lower back. If your chair does not have armrests try to sit somewhat close to your desk so that you can let your arms rest on the desk and not hang at your sides.

Don’t let your knees hand off the edge of the chair either. If your knees are extended off the chair too far you strain your back so that you can sit up straight.

Lastly, put your feet flat on the floor. When you have your feet flat on the floor you are able to keep your balance easier, this keeps you from leaning back in your chair to keep your balance.

If you suffer from back pain take the necessary steps to eliminate the pain. Pain relievers are available, but before you start taking unnecessary medications try to rid the pain naturally.
