The term “sweet tooth” dates back to the 1300s, in a time when this term was used to describe someone who had a taste of delicacies in either sweet or un-sweet form. As time went on this term began to be used to describe those who cared more for the sweet delicacies than un-sweet delicacies. This came about after the development of refined sugar. Today this term is used to describe someone who has a craving for sweets.

In recent studies performed at universities across the nation, had tested fraternal and identical twins to see if this is true, the end result was that it is not always true.
