Prescription Drug Companies

I am sure that you have been sick before, everyone has at some point in their life. I am also sure that you went to the doctor and were given prescription for an antibiotic. Did that antibiotic work? I mean really work? Something definitely helped you get well, but was it really a medicine or was it just in your head?

According to the French psychiatrist Patrick Lemoine, approximately 35-40% of all medications given to patients are “impure” placebos also known as sugar pill. These placebo pills have no active ingredient, there for you are taking a pill that has not affect what so ever, your healing is coming from your willpower to get well.

Even though you may be sick, if you are taking these sugar pills you believe they are working making you feel better with every pill you take. It is also believed that a placebo with no active ingredient has the same psychological affects as that of “the real thing”.
In another study involving 46,000 heart patients, half of whom were taking a placebo, researchers made the astonishing discovery that patients taking a placebo fared as well as those on the real heart medication. The patient’s belief in the doctor’s had mostly to do with his getting better. What he actually took—whether real drug or placebo—made absolutely no difference.
The question that started me on this subject is “Are prescription drug companies making these drugs for the right reasons?” In my opinion these companies are making these drugs that are supposed to help you and they don’t. So why do they keep making them? They continue manufacturing these drugs because they are supposed to help you, they intentionally make medications that will help you and then some that don’t.

If you are sick and you have no belief that you can cure yourself, then yes you should see a doctor. If you do have a belief that you will be better in a few days, stick to that. If you still feel the need to visit a doctor, please by all means do. Don’t feel pressured by your doctor to take the prescription he gives you. Please do be cautious and take care of your body, don’t take my word for it when it comes to not taking your medications, I am simply saying that not all medications are “real”.
