Everyone knows that there are many different types of skin conditions which include acne and rosacea. Acne can affect anyone of any age, but rosacea generally affects women with light complexions between the ages of 30 and 50, it can also affect women of younger ages, this is just a general age of who may be affected.

Rosacea is a skin condition that is generally associated with broken, red capillaries, acne and oily skin. Rosacea is considered a chronic condition, yet there has been no development as to finding a cure or the cause of rosacea. Rosacea is should not cause serious concern medically, but it will cause cosmetic concern and may cause self-esteem problems in women.

There are many symptoms of rosacea, yet there are no tests to determine if someone has rosacea, it is simply talking to a doctor to find out. Symptoms of rosacea include burning on the face, rashes that give the appearance of a sunburn, dry skin or pimple like bumps on the face, blushing or flushing that occurs often. If you have experienced any of the symptoms you should talk to your physician.

There are generally three stages of rosacea that are experienced in the following order.

The first stage is generally dry skin and sensitive skin on the face. Red lines and sore eyes may also appear in some rosacea patients.

The second stage is the spreading of dry skin to the neck, scalp and even chest area. During the second stage pustules or nodules may appear on the skin and may last up to several days.

The third stage is associated with larger nodules on the cheeks and a swollen nose. This generally happens when rosacea has gone untreated for too long.

Luckily there are treatment options for those living with rosacea. Although there is no cure or reason why we suffer from this disease, a physician can prescribe a medication that will help control it. Lack of treatment can cause permanent damage to the skin. Seeking treatment is vital if you would like to stop the spread of rosacea.

If you have begun to notice these symptoms you should talk to your physician about possible treatments. Treating this disease with antibiotics will help reduce the spreading and keep the signs at a minimum.
