You have probably already put a lot of thought into dog names and what you want to call your new puppy. Is it really that important? You betcha, you will be calling your dog by that name day in and day out for years to come. So coming up with popular dog names that still sound unique can become quite a challenge.

Owners can choose a different types of dog names. Some choose people names such as Charles or Abbey. To be a bit more creative you can go with names from movies such as The Beast from the Sand Lot, Hercules, or even Lassie.

You have a lot more wiggle room for creativity when naming a dog as opposed to a human. So make sure you come up with some awesome dog names that will get a lot of comments from visitors. This is your opportunity to have a lot of fun.

You may want to consider going with a name that describes your dog and his attributes. An example of this would be dog names such as Tiny, Killer, Beast and even Giant. If all else fails, you can always go with the stereotypically common names of Spot, Fido and Rover.

You know what would be hilarious? Naming a huge dog something that makes it sound small and harmless and naming a tiny dog something that makes it sound huge and ferocious. That is what is so great about naming a dog, there is no rules holding you back. The sky is the limit.

A friend of mine had quite a creative name for her dog. He was black and white and was named Oreo, which fit him perfectly. On the other hand, my mother has a Black Lab that she named Sadie so you really do have many options.

You dog can be named after pretty much anything or even anyone. Maybe name your female dog after an aunt you completely dislike or maybe name your new furry best friend after your favorite childhood friend.

Just be sure you are comfortable calling your dog when your mother is around or when you are out in public. Swear words or other profanities would probably not make the best dog names.
