The world today is full of deceptions, misconceptions, and most importantly perceptions; when learning about new things, it is often hard to tell these apart.

Of all the many misconceptions in the world, there are many linked with hypnosis. This is why it is very important to seek out and understand the misconceptions before you assume what task you want to accomplish using hypnosis. So to really understand what is really behind the basis of hypnosis, you must first understand what hypnosis is not.

Once you know what hypnosis is not, everything you are left with is what hypnosis is.

The media, movies, and plain old rumor have given hypnosis many false pretenses. The domination of another human ebing, and the complete domination over one's mind is not what hypnosis is.

The will of a human being is another thing that cannot be dominated using hypnosis. Basically hypnosis isn't somehting you can use to dominate the world in anyway or take over the human race, so if this is your intended destination then you might want to look into a new way of getting there.

There are probably endless amounts of misconceptions surrounding hypnosis, but this is usually true and typical of any kind of work associated with having power over other's mind, thoughts, actions, and ideas.

Power accompanies any way of life, society acknowledges this. Because of this, there are all kinds of associations and false ideas created with hypnosis. One example being money which carries connotations of power, though unless you are knowledgable about how to be powerful with money you will ultimately fail.

Any eloquent and masterful hypnotists have become so by first wiping celan from the slate any misconceptions about hypnosis.

Power is the most common misconception in the field of hypnosis. While it is true that you may holt some sort of power over your subject's mind, you will never be able to control them completely.

Quite the opposite, part of hypnosis that few are aware of is that hypnosis is actually a type of negotiation with the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is where you store your base of morals and ethics, and while you can as a hypnotist negotiate with the unconscious, you will never be able to change or control one's morals and ethics.

The ethical code stored by the unconscious cannot be broken, these are the beliefs and moral standards that every person lives their life by.

Among the common myths of hypnosis is the idea that one can completely control another, this is a myth simply because a person, whether in hypnotic trance or not, will only do what they want to do.

The common entertainment of stage hypnotists is a good example of this. Audience members will be selected or will volunteer for the hypnotist's act. These volunteers know that they might be asked to do something that they may not be aware of, even if they are embarrassing. On some level they know what the limit is.

Volunteers crave attention from being exhibitionists on some level in their minds. They are consciously ok with the fact that they know they will be controlled by the hypnotist because there is no conflict with their moral code.
