The advances in technology keep coming in leaps and bounds and it's hard to keep up with it all. Be it business, media, medicine, travel or communication, technology is constantly developing to introduce new devices and methods to make life easier for the average man. Among all the various technological fields in the modern world, information technology has become a primary focal point in all our lives.

Information technology is what makes our lives so much easier and overwhelmingly simple today. Unlike 20 years ago, when people had to store endless files in cabinets, wait for months for mail and rely on the nearby shops to buy everything they need, we now have virtual file storage, email and instant messaging and almost all businesses have an online presence and buying is simply a matter of having a credit card or online secure payment method.

There is almost nothing that cannot be done online. Whether you want to draw up a document, or chat with a friend, or have a video conference with a colleague, or have an impromptu meeting with people, you can do it online. Information technology has made sure that the whole world is connected

From application development and computer networking to database management and sophisticated websites, the influence of information technology is everywhere you go. Let's take a look at how much it has become a part of our everyday use of the internet.

Communication: Communication has evolved from simple messages sent over the command prompt to video conferencing and VoIP technology. Emails and Instant Messengers have taken the place of ordinary mail and telegrams - the internet is all you need to communicate. Now, you can access the internet from mobile phones, yet another step forward.

E-Commerce: Businesses of all sorts have gone online. You can buy and sell anything at all on the net. Straightforward retail, auctions, second-hand things - absolutely anything you want can be bought, and you can pay for them through secure payment gateways. Now you never have to step outside your home, unless you really need to.

Devices - It won't be long before a refrigerator with internet capabilities allows you to find the perfect healthy recipe for you to prepare from any ingredients stored inside it. While it sounds far-fetched and quite hypothetical, it's not impossible. Digital devices are everywhere and manufacturers keep coming up with various ideas to give them better performance and sales opportunities. Some of them have integrated GPRS for web-browsing, while others rely on broadband connections. Brands known to be researching extensively in this area are Samsung and LG.

With the advance in technology and the subsequent growth of the internet, there's no limit to what humanity can achieve over the coming years.
